MILLENNIUM SERIES
CHANGES FOR SEASON 2005
Valid from 30/01/05 – 31/12/05
The Millennium Series remains an independent European based series for 2005 and the foreseeable future. The Millennium is the World’s oldest professional paintball series and historically the most innovative, this will not change. However, we intend to work in full co-operation with all major series Europe and Worldwide in order to harmonize tournament paintball for the benefit of all.
Organization
The Millennium Series organization is professionalizing. This takes some time and effort behind the scenes, and we have been working hard to ensure we can make changes necessary this season. Full details of some of the information provided here will be announced within the following weeks.
Aside from the members of the Board putting in considerably more time than ever before, and the already familiar Administration Department, we are installing several more committees and departments, who will each focus on their own area of expertise and thus enforce improvements and changes where and when necessary.
The following committees and departments have been added:
- Rules Committee
- Disciplinary Committee
- Referee Department
- Marketing Department
- Player Committee
- Sales Department
- Logistics Department
We are focussing on quality instead of quantity, that’s why we have made clear choices this season. First choice was to concentrate our energy on 5 events only (all 7-man).
As a reminder, our confirmed events:
Dates
Maxs European Masters Bitburg Germany 22nd – 24th April
DMA 2005 Amsterdam, Holland 3rd – 5th June
7 Man World Cup Paris France 1st – 3rd July
Campaign Cup England 2nd – 4th September
Iberian Cup Madrid Spain 7th – 9th October
All these events count for your scores towards the overall ranking. A maximum of 160 teams will be welcomed at each of our events.
Entry fees
Furthermore, this year we have decided not to increase the entry fees. We are increasing quality for the same price.
These are the entry fees for 2005:
Cat.
Champions League €1,500
Div 1 €1,200
Div 2 €1,000
Div 3 €900
Reffing
70% of the reffing job will be done by specially trained refs. We are setting up a Millennium Professional Refs Training Program, and as goal we are striving for a 100% trained ref crew for 2006. More details on the Millennium Professional Refs Training Program will follow within the next few weeks.
The 30% that’s left will be reffed by division 1 teams, who will be selected based on their place in the overall ranking. Those teams will receive 200 points for their effort, when the job is done according to the agreement.
We are currently asking the division 1 teams to download the referee team form from our website and email it to karlijn@millennium-series.com so we can start filling the 10 spots we have for those teams to ref. You are obliged to add your Millennium Series ID Card Number, if you do not have one yet, you will have to purchase one at the first event you attend.
Prize Money
We are significantly increasing the amount of cash money for prizes per event per division. On the Millennium Series website you can find a formula where you can exactly see how much prize money each event will bring you.
We will also give away cash prizes at the end of the season to the 2nd through 8th division 1 teams and the 8 best division 2 teams in the overall ranking.
1st place of division 1 moves up to the Champions League.
Overall ranking prizes
Division 1 teams €1500
Division 2 teams €1000
For division 3 we will have prices in products, at the discretion of each promoter.
Pro Division vs. Champions League
In preparation of the next season, we have started a Champions League instead of our Pro Division. The format will not be different, but the division will be locked at the end of the season permitting the 15 top teams and the 1st division 1 team to form the Champions League in 2006.
In 2007 2 Champions League teams will relegate to division 1 and 2 division 1 teams will be promoted to the Champions League. Division 1 will also be locked in 2007, with Division 2 in 2008.
# Of Prelim Games
In order have worldwide harmonization for the Series with other series in the world; we have decided to reduce the amount of prelim games from 10 to 8. All games will still be 7 minute games.
Rules
Last year’s rules will be used for the most part, although they will be tuned in some ways. We will not start on banning jersey colours different then we did last season, so please check the 2004 rules for questions in that area.
While making tune ups in the rules we of course will consider the time frame we can ask you to make changes in.
We are publishing the field layouts two weeks in advance, in order for you to prepare for the event. This enables you some time for planning strategies ahead.
The rate of fire will be locked at 15 shots per second. Ramping and full automatic shots are still forbidden. We will have equipment to help us enforce these rules.
More info on the new rules to be released in the next weeks.
Roster
On your team roster you can add up to 15 players. However, after the 3rd event, those 15 players are the players you will play your last two events with, no additions can be made. In order to register your team, each player must bring valid and official photo identification, as in a passport, personal photo identification card, or drivers’ license with your photo on it etc.
The roster will be published on our website before the events, to enable you to fill it out at home. Please note: signatures must be from the players playing and will be cross-checked with your official identification (passport, drivers’ license with photograph, etc).
ID Cards
Due to experiences last season we have had to decide that this season you will not be able to order your ID-cards online before the events. When purchasing an ID-card, you are obliged to show valid and official photo identification, as in a passport, personal photo identification card, or drivers license with your photo on it etc.
Costs:
Players ID €30
Pit crew ID €10
Lost cards €10
We are also working on collectors ID-cards, more to be announced on this subject soon.
Only Millennium Series ID Cards will allow you to enter in a Millennium Series event.
5 Man sanctioned events
In Europe there are a lot of 5-man events very much worth wile. The Millennium Series will sanction the points achieved in a selection of these tournaments. The exact system and which events, will be published in a few weeks.
European Player Association
Last season a few players took the initiative to start the European Player Association and although they tried, it didn’t really happen. The Millennium Series feel that such an association is very important for the sport and especially to enable the Series to improve on things the players (our customers) need.
This season, the Millennium Series will take the initiative, and ask you to email us when you wish to be nominated for the European Players Association. You will be placed on a voting list and we will have a voting in April at Maxs European Masters in Bitburg. The EPA can consist of 5 players out of all disciplines within the Millennium Series. Email us at karlijn@millennium-series.com to be nominated and please make sure you do so before April 11th. After that date, no more nominees can be added.
Media Coordinator
In order to have one central point of contact for our media, we have appointed a Media Coordinator. The Media Coordinator will supply all our media (or on request) with a media info pack, where all information, rights and restrictions will be listed. Especially for our media a separate press release will follow within the next few weeks.
